From Vanshika:

The first book that got me into reading was The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and it made me want to read more books like it. I don’t know what it says about me as a reader that all I wanted to read were world-ending novels, but it did influence the way I wrote because I found myself always writing books that we’re dealing with one or more political issues—like women’s issues, LGBTQIAP+ issues, People Of Colour issues, and the nuances of how those issue intersect. It’s possibly the reason why none of the books I’ve ever written are light, and deal with loads of political aspects of the life of any individual.

More about Vanshika:

Vanshika Prusty has spent her life between the pages of books, on trips across the world, sometimes writing, mostly reading, with a special place in her heart for anything magical that’ll sweep her into a different universe.

Vanshika Prusty's affection for The Hunger Games typifies enthusiasm that is reflected by many new voices today. As someone interested in the publishing space, I have had the opportunity to explore book publishing companies in Australia, who support new voices and first books. Publishers are instrumental in discovering and promoting new authors, in order for stories like Vanshika's reach wider communities, and inspire readers for future generations.
